Obama was quoted as saying that while immigrants should learn to
speak English, that Americans should also be teaching their children to
speak Spanish. What was very insightful was his reasoning for why this
should be done, specially, "you know its embarrassing when when uh
europeans come over here, they all speak English, they speak French,
they speak German, and then we go over to Europe, and all we can say is
Merci BouCoup. Right?!"
It's so good to hear the old Democrat ethic of the common man come
back with Obama! The democrats of late seemed to have abandoned the
normal everyday joe, but no longer! Obama comes to commiserate with the
garbageman, the dishwasher, and the fast food worker! He will relieve
us all of our embarrassment when the grocery store clerk goes to
Germany and can only muster an "Anschluss!," or
the construction laborer as he vacations in Spain and ashamedly sputters out a "Quiero Taco Bell."
Unlike his wealthy real estate pals, the common man does not
vacation in Europe, and even moreso, he doesn't care that those who do
find it embarrassing that they can't speak other languages. It is
through this exact kind of mindless tinkering of education that has
produced the conditions in the public schools where uneducated students
are churned out by the millions to be stuck in dead end jobs where they
won't have anywhere near the opportunity to enjoy overseas vacations.
If the "citizen of the world" had any priorities, he would be
embarrassed by the fact that our kids are woefully unprepared to
compete in a global marketplace with the inept and inadequate schooling
we provide through the efforts of his like-minded friends at National
Education Association.
